Whaleback Natural Area

Leelanau Conservancy

The Whaleback Natural Area is owned by the Leelanau Conservancy. This 10,000-year old glacial wonder is an iconic landform with a fragile bluff that rises 300 feet. A viewing platform offers views of Lake Michigan. Large oak trees, mature hemlocks, abundant spring flowers, many bird species, and deer. There is a 1 mile trail over hilly, wooded terrain.
