Lighthouse West Natural Area

Leelanau Conservancy

This natural area has 42 acres and 640 feet of undeveloped shoreline along Lake Michigan and provides an array of habitat for over 100 species of birds such as songbirds, hawks, and eagles. This area provides a place for the birds to stop, feed and rest before crossing the Lake Michigan to the Michigan's Upper Peninsula. There is a 1 mile trail network on mostly flat terrain that contains an 800 foot rigorous trail and stairs down a steep bluff to Lake Michigan and a bench.
